Mr. Obama How to create jobs the stereotypical republican way
Mr. Obama How to create jobs the stereotypical republican way I usually dont write two posts in one day but I figured I better close the loop on my last post, which was a suggestion to Obama on how to create jobs the democrat way. Heres my other-perspective letter: Mr Obama, You say we need to create jobs this year (2010). Big priority. Well, heres what you do: GET OUT OF THE WAY. Let companies do their thing. Let entrepreneurs do their thing. There are companies and people who are dying to fill the holes the federal government is trying to fill. Stop using stimulus money to buy shares in Detroit companies. Instead, use that money to really stimulate the economy (not just to stimulate auto sales). Keep the interest rates low (I personally dont know what the implications are of this, but it seems like a really good idea). Encourage creativity and foster an environment where entrepreneurs can take risks. What if there were some way to distribute the money to entrepreneurs, instead of companies that are just too big to steer back into a good path that will be self-sustaining, create jobs, etc? Tesla Motors is an example of an entrepreneur putting his money into redesigning the auto industry. Please read Inc. Magazine. Make your staff read it. Put it on Air Force One, and in any other vehicles. Have it in government buildings. The paradigm must shift from the bubble inside the DC beltway to what we experience outside of the beltway. Also, read this short piece by former Secretary of Agriculture Ezra T. Benson titled The Proper Role of Government. There are some scary things in there about what government should AND SHOULD NOT do. It talks about the citizens role in all of this. It is a terrific read and Id love to know how much you agree or disagree with this. I think all of Congress should read and study this document (NOT assign it to their staff for a briefing). I think that if you can just get out of the way well get this righted. There are thousands of stories about people filling a need, creating a business, and hiring employees (ie, creating jobs). Here are two examples: Jayson Edwards did the unthinkable: he opened a hot dog stand in a relatively small town in Utah. Hes become a local legend and quite successful. He had to make sacrifices, but he found and need and fills it. Im sure this sounds crazy to you if you are in a big city (D.C. or NYC), but it was unheard of in Provo. Cloud Star Products is a company that apparently employees 100 people. This company started when a couples dog was just not doing well they eventually came up with a line of food that helps dogs with allergies (whoda thunk!). I read about them in the Costco Magazine (article here). You know what? It is OKAY that these people dont work for the government, and that they dont work for a big company. There is more to this country than that. They are chasing their American Dream, and that has to be okay. What can you do to help us pursue our American Dreams? Remember, many of the big companies today are here because some guy or gal was alone and broke, but had a dream and a passion and the will to chase it. Dont trip the chaser. Writing a Fitness Resume For Fitness Training
Writing a Fitness Resume For Fitness TrainingWriting a fitness resume is no easy task. Most people are often not willing to admit that they do not know much about the subject or they think it will be too hard for them to write a resume. This article will give you some tips on how to write a resume for fitness. The first thing you need to do is not to use too many words. You should only use three to five words in a paragraph. It is recommended that you write the best selling lines and the bio. Fitness resume is not the place for the boring bits. Be creative and use your imagination. When you start to write your fitness resume you should list down all of your favorite activities. These can include: home-based exercise, professional fitness trainer, health clubs, exercise videos and even your favorite food. Then, list down your goals for exercising and the amount of time you are willing to commit to it.By adding your own personal list of activities and goals, you are telling the hiring ma nager that you have already thought of all the possible problems that could come up when exercising. Most of the time these people will only see your number of hours logged, but when they see your goal they will also see that you intend to achieve that goal. This will make them give you a chance. You should also highlight your most loved activities in your fitness resume. This will make it easy for you to identify which is your favorite activity. Allowing the hiring manager to decide which is your favorite activity makes it easier for you to get your desired job.Another important fact about writing a fitness resume is that you should not list down everything that you like doing. You have to be concise. This way you can easily identify if you are being asked for an interview or not. Besides, it will save you from writing a resume that is full of useless information. When it comes to choosing the right words, the hiring manager always asks for an answer with a list of queries and this s hould be done in a chronological order. So you can easily create a very good cover letter without having to learn any special language. Since the company will want to hire you based on your results and your skills, they won't mind spending more time reading and listening to what you have to say.Remember, it takes time to develop a perfect fitness resume. The key to creating the perfect one is to always be creative and don't be afraid to write all the tasks that you need to get started.

Disagree With Personal Branding Read This! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career
Disagree With Personal Branding Read This! - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career I took a week vacation, where I was barely online (it costs 59 cents per minute to use the cruise ship internet service) and I thought really hard about all the criticism that personal branding has received in 2009. Ive heard rants from people who think personal branding is selfish and others from people who view personal branding as being not authentic. I dont get discouraged or upset by any of these opinions because people fear what they dont understand (a line I got from The Dark Night movie) and since its the hot buzz word, people are getting annoyed hearing it all of the time. I dedicated this post to people who disagree with personal branding, but care enough about it to voice their opinions online. If youre a personal branding expert or enthusiast, you may use this post to help others understand what the concept is all about. What the critics say about personal branding (and my responses) Rather than hide the criticisms over the past year, Id like to shed light on some of the ones that have caught my eye. The blue italicized sentences after each remark are my interpretations of personal branding. Personal branding makes you afraid. If youre confident about your brand then youre proud instead of afraid. Could another term downplay the marketing connotation that risks reducing human beings to commodities? Human beings start off as commodities and by way of personal branding, they can stand for something, achieve greatness and become visible to their audience. Iâm just saying all this ballyhoo about âbrandingâ is nothing more than simple, basic marketing. Most people dont have marketing backgrounds (marketing isnt taught to non-marketing majors) and the internet has forced us to all become marketers of our own brands using social media tools that are free and allow us to connect to our audience, employers, etc. Personal branding is like religious evangelism: if you donât buy into it, youâre going to hell. If you dont buy into someones personal brand, then you have the authority to unsubscribe to their blog, unfollow them on Twitter, etc. The world is opt-in, so you get to select your own religion. Personal branding is often an ego-based image based on communications. When personal branding becomes ego-based, the ego is usually deflated by an audience that can move elsewhere fairly easily. Everyone in the world has an ego and its how they behave that accounts for their brand (and how theyre perceived). As you can see, this is opinion based and the disagreement is the result of a misunderstanding of the concept. The idea behind the concept If you disagree with the concept of personal branding, then you might agree with the idea behind the concept, which is marketing yourself to stand out from the crowd. No one can deny that the world population is growing exponentially and that with that larger pool of people comes massive competition. The competition puts us under great pressure to stand out and be known amongst the people vying for the same opportunities as us. Here is another way how you can look at it: Problem: competition Goal: standing out Solution: personal branding (you can replace this with self-marketing if that makes you feel more comfortable) The idea wasnt formed when people starting blogging or when Tom Peters wrote about it in Fast Company on August 1st, 1997. Personal branding has been around forever! How did you ever find out about Christopher Columbus if you werent born during that age? You read textbooks about him and watched the history channel on TV. Same with the dinosaurs as well. The tyrannosaurus rex is a brand and you describe the creature as ferocious and its branded as the king of the dinos. Everything has always been branded/described/labeled, but it wasnt until social media took off before people start seeing themselves as a brand. Why is there a lot of buzz about personal branding now? Theres no question that social media is the fuel that is making personal branding a common term used in our language now. The reason why its happening is because all types of brands have the same privileges now and branding has been taken down to a personal level. For instance, the fact that Britney Spears, Oprah, Comcast, a small pizza place in Chicago, a local dry cleaners in my town and everyone else can have a profile, a website and a blog now, makes it obviously and apparent that branding is everything. The issue isnt branding though because that already exists as long as you let it. The main concern is making a brand and a reputation. 5 Questions you should ask to people who disagree with personal branding Do you know how youre being perceived by the people that surround your life? Have you ever been called something over and over again but dismissed it? Are you pursuing your dream or someone elses dream? If I Google your name or search for it on Facebook, what will I get? Are you proud of it? Has any kind of visibility, online or offline, generated leads, love interest or opportunities for you? Your turn Do you agree with personal branding? Do your friends?

Scientific Writing Resume - The Essentials You Need To Know
Scientific Writing Resume - The Essentials You Need To KnowWhen you're preparing a scientific writing resume for a job opening, you have to make sure that it's not only convincing but also professional. You want to make sure that the information in your resume is accurate and up-to-date so that it stands out from the other applications. Plus, you also want to get a job - getting that at the very least. The Internet is a great place to start for many of these applications. A good example is one of the resumes that was recently posted on MyFreeResume.com. As you can see, this is one of the easiest ones to find, which is why many people have used it to write their scientific writing resume. If you need help creating your own application or if you just want to get some advice, the site has plenty of support available. However, there are online applications that are not as easy to find. You might have to go about finding them on your own or ask someone who knows a lot about scientific writi ng resumes. It doesn't hurt to check out message boards or an online organization that deals with resumes, like CNA Resume Writer. These two resources can help you find the right application. If you're not sure what types of scientific writing resumes are available, the fact that it's a very specific job type makes it easier to narrow down the search. After all, science jobs often require you to take special care when writing your application, and science jobs only. You may have to get a little creative when it comes to your resume. One idea is to use the latest technologies to make your application stand out. For example, if you're applying for a position at NASA, you may want to include something about your time spent working on various projects in a supercomputer or another highly technical environment. This will make your application stand out from the other applications because the people reviewing it are going to know that you are particularly savvy about technology. If you're in school and are just looking for a job that gives you enough time to pursue a hobby, you can do that, too. For example, if you're studying aerodynamics, you can write a scientific writing resume that includes the words 'veteran', 'retired'professional' to describe your expertise. By being specific and being friendly, you'll put yourself in a better light as a person who is knowledgeable about science. This can be a perfect way to get a job without having to take classes. If you do want to take some classes, you'll still be able to get those credits to count towards your GPA. In fact, there are lots of schools out there that will approve your resume without even knowing the nature of your coursework. So you could still graduate and not have to waste any money or time. Plus, you'll be able to get the job.All in all, you can make your scientific writing resume stand out and impress everyone who sees it. It can even help you get a job.

Things I Learned In My 30s That I Wish I Knew In My 20s - Cubicle Chic
Things I Learned In My 30's That I Wish I Knew In My 20's - Cubicle Chic Things I Learned In My 30âs That I Wish I Knew In My 20âs Career design, Corporate Life, Personal Life October 27, 2017 20 CommentsBlazer: Dailylook; Dress: Everlane via Nordstrom; Bag: Banana Republic Slouch Tote on sale for $75 now; Sunglasses: Perverse Sunglasses TwiggyI recently re-read an article I wrote earlier this Spring when I almost died in a car accident. It pulled me back into the reflective mood I was in when I wrote the piece, thinking about how short life can be. It also got me thinking about how grateful I am for the life I have now.I have had some bumps in the road in my 32-year-old life, but I have by no means lived a tough life. Yet, when I was in my 20âs, I was rarely content. I wished I was someone else. I wished I looked different. I wanted things I didnât deserve. I sometimes loathed myself, who I was. I struggled mentally and I had major body image issues. There were ups and downs, but the downs defined who I was.Blazer: Dailylook; Dress: Everlane via Nordstrom; Bag: Banana Republic Slouch Tote on sale for $75 no w; Heels: Topshop Fringe SandalsSomething changed within me in my late 20âs. Through friends and family, books I read, new interests I developed, places I traveled to, I became a better version of myself. I starting having more confidence. I started caring less about othersâ opinion. I became more self-aware but less self-conscious. I developed a better sense of my SELF, a better sense of my identity. I started to be at peace with myself. I began accepting and embracing my imperfections. Sunglasses: Perverse Sunglasses Twiggy; Blazer: Dailylook; Dress: Everlane via Nordstrom; Bag: Banana Republic Slouch Tote on sale for $75 nowSometimes, I wish I could go back in time and share what I know now with my younger self. I would tell my 20-something self toâ¦Stay in the present. Because thatâs all you can control. It was through yoga and meditation that I learned the importance of being present. Iâm no expert at either, but Iâve had moments of clarity and relief that comes fr om focusing my mind on the present. I learned that if youâre depressed, youâre stuck in the past. If youâre anxious, youâre too worried about the future. You canât change what happened yesterday, but you can try to have a better day today.Sunglasses: Perverse Sunglasses Twiggy; Dress: Everlane via Nordstrom; Bag: Banana Republic Slouch ToteLove yourself first. Because you deserve it.Also because asking or waiting for others to love you is just too much work. Donât bend yourself backward to make someone love you. You are already lovable! You just have to love yourself first.Take the time to get to know yourself. Because thatâs whoâs responsible for your well-being happinessIn your 30âs is when a lot of life commitments happen if they havenât already. Long-term relationships, the prime years of your career, or kids. Not everyone will know what their passion is or what theyâre called to do in life. But knowing what fuels you vs. what drains your energy, what exc ites you vs. what you dread will help you steer your life in your 30âs. Designing Your Life is a great resource to figure this out if youâre wanting some direction in life. Itâs one of my favorite books in 2017. Sunglasses: Perverse Sunglasses Twiggy; Dress: Everlane via NordstromTry new things and develop new interests. Because you may not have the time and energy to later.I saw some of my friends moved from hobbies to hobbies. Today, itâs bowling; tomorrow, it may be archery. I always thought they were looking for something to fill a void that they had. And maybe thereâs some truth to that. But looking back, I wish I did more of exploring when it comes to what I do in my leisure time. Because itâs a luxury to have something you can just lose yourself in doing (video game, drugs, and eating cupcakes donât count). And the more hobbies you try and develop a long-term interest in, the more things you have at your disposal to relax, recharge, and find your balance. Whic h are oh-so-important when youâre juggling career, mortgage, and a family in your 30âs. Blazer: Dailylook; Sunglasses: Perverse Sunglasses Twiggy; Dress: Everlane via Nordstrom; Bag: Banana Republic Slouch ToteAccept the mistakes you make. Because mistakes help you learn. There were things I did in my 20âs that I wish I could do-over. Sometimes I do wish I could go back in time and change my approach, my attitude, and the way I treated people. But I canât. Instead, what I CAN do is to remind myself what I learned. I can remind myself what it was like when I hurt or disappointed people. I can carry those feelings and never do it again. All photography by Natalie Alvarado @ Stylenfuse
